The Village

Samoëns was once a centre for stonemasons, and this past shows in many of the buildings, with a picturesque and characterful village far from the purpose-built ski stations of recent years.

The resort has a small pedestrianised centre, with narrow streets lined by local shops and a quaint marketplace where Le Gros Tilleul (the Large Lime Tree) sits.

Throughout the village there is an array of excellent restaurants, typically specialising in local Savoyard cuisine.

Samoëns also has an ice rink and a cinema in the village, whilst dog sledging, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing are available nearby.
